HQ2 Recessed — Pineville

Six canless recessed lights in the HQ2 foyer — measured, pre-wired, beam-safe, painted, and fully installed.

1. Foyer Zone — 6-Can Grid (Completed)

This zone sits in front of the bathroom at HQ2 — the first official SB Tech Lab recessed lighting install.

The first pass marked a perfect visual center. The final pass respected the beams and shifted the line while protecting the look.

2. Pre-Wired Harness — “Drop-In” Method

Instead of wiring every light on the ladder, the run was pre-built, then dropped into place from the attic.

How the run was staged

Measured can positions on the ceiling using the layout we mapped out ahead of time.
Cut and wired the canless junction boxes on the ground with extra length on each leg.
Labeled and organized the harness so each box lined up with its ceiling hole.
Took the pre-wired harness into the attic and dropped each leg through the openings.

For any future zones at HQ2, copy this same pattern: plan on paper, pre-wire off the ladder, then drop, connect, and test.

3. Field Log — HQ2 Foyer Recessed

Sequence that actually happened

Ceiling in foyer area cut for cans using our measurements — drywall only at first.
Licensed electrician friend came through and helped extend cuts through the wood where needed.
Ceiling received one full coat of paint, then a second coat the next day for a clean finish.
Pre-wired harness built on the ground using our layout and extra lead length.
Harness carried into attic early morning, legs dropped through each can opening.
Six canless fixtures installed, powered up, and confirmed: all 6 are lit and clean.

Any future recessed work at HQ2 should reference this page so the story stays consistent for lenders, inspectors, and training.

4. Lender / Training Note

This is the first documented recessed-lighting run at HQ2 and should be treated as both:

Improvements to the HQ2 asset — clean, efficient foyer lighting.
Training rep for future lab builds — practicing grids, beam checks, and pre-wired harnesses.
